Inter Tribal
As the nomadic Plains Indians roamed their territory long ago, tribes would meet and their songs would often be shared. As more voices were included in the songs, the songs would naturally change.
As this form of inter tribal music evolved, actual words were replaced by vocables (hey, yah, or lay) in the songs. This transformation from a song sung in a specific language to one with a more universal feel shows the beauty of a living culture and the native song’s ability to adapt and evolve.
