Description
At the top of this tamper is a carved bear head accented with a light yellow stripe down its nose, tiny glass beads for eyes, and a mouth full of carved teeth. Suspended from his neck is a yellow, red, and blue quill wrapped dangle finished with red dyed horse hair, tin cones, an abalone disc, and a single trade bead.
The upper portion of the stem is quilled in white, red, blue, and yellow using the plated technique. The lower portion of the stem is carved into a spiraling, whirlwind design to represent smoke offerings.
The head of the tamper has been covered with a deep brown stain and the lower portion has been stained a rich red.
