Quick Overview
The theme of this shield is "Bear Spirit". The imagery is of a Spirit Bear entering the physical world to assist the warrior in defeating his enemy.
Description
Each paw features bells which signal the coming of the Bear Spirit and warns of the defeat of an enemy if they do not beware.

Jim has also added an amulet which is the head of the defeated enemy. The feathers added are marks of brave deeds and send a message to all of the enemies of this Bear warrior.

Jim uses elk rawhide stretched across a willow hoop and dried. Jim then paints the image of the "Emerging Bear" and adds a quill wrapped dangle to extend the spirit of the Bear. He finishes the design with brass bells, glass beads, domestic turkey feathers and wool cloth.
