Wiotehike Wi: Hard Times

November, 2011

Painting of American Indian Winter Camp by Del Iron Cloud

The coming of Winter...according to the Lakota calendar, November 25 to December 23 is known as Wotehike Wi - this is translated as meaning Hard Times.

In the Northern Plains, this is the time of year when the heavy snows fall, the ground freezes, and the sweeping northern winds spread bitter cold across the land.

Unique Gift Ideas

Outside, our Northern Plains landscape may seem a bit foreboding, but inside, families and friends are gathering for the holiday season and celebrating togetherness as we share stories, listen to the sounds of the season, prepare gifts for loved ones, and reflect on how lucky we are to have one another.

...and if you're in need of the perfect gift, we may be able to help with our collection of unique, special, beautiful, and even one-of-a-kind treasures.
