When in battle, American Indians had superior firepower using these weapons than did the white man with their single-shot rifles - they could fire four arrows before a single-shot rifle could be reloaded.

Native Americans shaped their bows from tree trunks collected in winter "after the sap went down", making the bows resilient to splitting.

This American Indian inspired reproduction bow is made from oak and is non-functional.
