Shields

For Native Americans, shields represented not only physical protection, but also spiritual guidance.

Shields are traditionally constructed of leather and decorated with different animals and symbols that would add power to the wearer. For example, when a bear was added to a Native American warrior's shield, he believed he would acquire the bear's attributes.

The shields featured are created in the Native American style, using traditional Plains Indians materials and techniques.
