Description
The eyes and the ears of the muskrat have been adorned with colorful beadwork. At his chin hang quilled dangles of deer toes, glass beads, red dyed horse hair, and tin cones.
The mid section of the hide is decorated with a beaded light blue panel and includes a design of three horses - one is red and white, another is navy and yellow, and the third is white with a mane of blue. The sides of this main panel are edged with glass beads; the bottom is finished with a strip of blue and yellow beadwork edged with red glass beads.
Below the beaded panel are rawhide slats adored with quillwork - blue, yellow, and red geometric designs on a white background - and a long length of leather fringe and two small dangles of trade beads and deer toes. Long quilled dangles, similar to the ones hanging from the chin, hang to either side of the slats.
The back of the bag is unadorned and features the natural colors and texture of the muskrat's fur.
The beadwork is done using glass beads.
