Description
Margo Gallegos is a Colorado artist who carves aspen wood into bowls, vases, ladles, plates and lamps. They are decorated in Southwestern and Western motifs of animals, people and geometric designs, which are created with wood-burning and paint.
Her talent for carving was discovered through her practicality. Years ago, she was a cook at a hunting camp in need of a ladle. She selected a piece of aspen wood and carved it into a crude but serviceable utensil. Since then, Margo has refined her work into true objects of art. Each piece is numbered and signed.
Margo’s keen interest in realism and detail is evident in her work, which shows painstaking precision. The combination of the medium and design produces a traditional yet contemporary feeling.
