Quick Overview
A tribute to battle exploits, this painted hand rattle features an old deer design and speaks of hand-to-hand combat.
Description
The rattle takes the form of a human hand, is made of rawhide, and sewn with imitation sinew. The upper portion of the hand is painted a deep, rustic orange with what Jim calls "an old deer design" and spots running up one finger; the lower portion is painted an ochre hue with orange spots on the front and blue spots on the back.

The hand is also decorated with beaded fingernails and dangle of grouse feathers and tin cones.

The handle is wooden and finished with wrapped beadwork and leather.

The rattle is painted with commercial paints, stains and dyes.
