Bryan Bortnem
Rutland, S.D. Growing up in a rural setting in the upper Great Plains has given Bryan a great appreciation for wildlife and the great outdoors.
With deep roots in the Plains, his work is inspired by the early Native People of this area.
A self-taught artist, Bryan began his scrimshaw work in 1976 and continues to do this work using a variety of materials including ivory, bone, antler and horn.
