Description
Breastplates were strung with natural sinew and accompanied by other accoutrements such as glass beads, metal points and even large pieces of metal.
In later years the U.S government began manufacturing uniform style bone-hair-pipe to use as trade items or as payment for services by Native American people. These uniform pieces of bone were highly desired because the breastplates became more smooth in appearance and could be made to any length.
This American Indian inspired piece is constructed from uniform pieces of bone-hair-pipe, brass beads, string fringe, horse hair, tin cones, Italian glass blue beads, abalone shell and silk ribbons.
