Quick Overview
Knife sheaths such as this exquisite example by Marcus Roubideaux, were once worn around the neck by native people - this allowed quick access a the weapon if threatened.
Description
Inspired by the book Mystic Warriors of the Plains, Native American artist Marcus Roubideaux recreates a Blackfoot style knife sheath depicted on page 460.

The sheath is made of durable latigo leather, covered with dark blue trade cloth, and decorated with lane/lazy stitch beadwork using blue Czech beads.

The fringe is imitation sinew strung with red, white and blue Italian glass beads. Staying close to the original, the sheath is finished with dentalium shells on the case and neck strap.
