Quick Overview
Bear's are ferocious, tenacious and extremely territorial. When confronted, they never back down and a fight usually means to the death. But a Bear is also a parent, a mother bear cares for her cubs until it is time to separate forever. A mother bear will fight off any male bear intruders and teach her young to defend themselves, feed themselves and even care for themselves. A bear knows what kinds of grasses to eat when they are not feeling well. A bear also knows what kinds of muds to lay in when injured to help facilitate the healing process.

Bear Warrior's are respected in every way that the bear is. A confrontation with a Bear Warrior meant to the death. This pedestal drum features painted bear tracks and images of a bear defending his family and territory.
Description
Made of cottonwood, the drum body features a natural, irregular shape. The sides are stained an ochre hue. The upper portion is painted with images of the bear as he emerges from the safety and beauty of his home (represented with colorful disc forms) and charges toward his enemy. The lower features bear tracks adorned with brass tacks.

The top and bottom of the drum are covered with buffalo rawhide; this is stretched across the drum's surface and secured with rawhide lacing. The top is painted with the image of a dancing bear covered with sacred spots.

Around the drum body hang dangles of horse hair, tin cones, leather lacing, glass beads, and feather fluffs. Each is secured to the drum with a brass tack.

The drum beater is stained a deep brown and decorated with a leather wrap, red wrapped beadwork, and leather fringe.

The drum is painted with acrylic paints. It is signed by the artist.
