Quick Overview
This rawhide shield by American Indian artist Dawn Yellow Bank features a geometric design which is used to represent the Great Sioux Nation.
Description
The top half of the shield features red trade cloth and in the center is a strip of green lane/lazy stitch beadwork.

Beneath the beadwork are strands of horsehair anchored by tin cones. Dawn further decorates the shield with a braid of sweetgrass above the beadwork and a quilled medicine wheel.

Dawn completes the design with yellow trade cloth around the shield which features imitation golden eagle feathers and beadwork on the ends of the trade cloth.
